GRIT-BUILDING GAP YEAR

So, you might be thinking about taking a gap year. You might have blindly just stumbled into one.
 
Worried about funding it? If you're keen to travel the world whilst getting physically fit, while developing skills like teamwork, communication, leadership, tenacity and initiative, then The Army's Gap Year Commission is 100% worth a look.

It's 8 weeks of training at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, followed by a year spent managing soldiers and taking on adventures across the planet.

But it gets even better. It won't cost you a penny – you get paid around £18,000 for the year.

This is a route that'll build a bucket-load of grit (while being fun and challenging), and can will make you hot stuff for the 3 different pathways you might want to head towards at the end: 

• University (they love to know your experiences and how they've shaped you) 
• Employment (soft skills are a key part of becoming a rounded person, which employers want)
• The option to go on and complete Officer Training or take up a place as an Army Reserve

So while your friends are draining their inheritance on all-inclusive tours of all 50 states of the U.S., you could be doing something that'll build your CV and personal statement, developing the key skills you'll need, and making money to boot. 

Not bad for a gap year.
