Session booking information
Got questions? Here's a selection of things that people often ask us about Push sessions. If you've got question marks running round your head, chances are there's an answer for it here. If you can't find the answer you are looking for feel free to email us at [email protected]
HOW MANY STUDENTS CAN YOU SPEAK TO?
We’ve spoken to groups large and small, from 30 - 200+. We usually find that a minimum of 20 students is needed to make the talks cost effective for Push and for the school, but there’s no upper limit whatsoever & we encourage entire & multiple year groups if possible.
We usually speak to groups from years 9-13s, and occasionally year 8 students, international students, undergraduates, mature students, parents, careers advisors & university ambassadors. You name it and we’re game.

HOW MUCH SPACE DO YOU NEED FOR A PUSH SESSION?
We know it can be tough to find a space and a time slot big enough for all your students to get together at the same time. Well, our flexibility also means we can fit into very small or very large spaces. We don’t need bags and bags of room. As long as there’s room for a laptop and a projector/screen, we don’t mind.
We’ve done presentations/workshops in classrooms, mobile classrooms, science labs, assembly halls, 6th form common rooms, school theatres, gyms, playgrounds and sports fields. We even did one on the International Space Station (not really, but one can dream).
If you’ve got 60 students but only have a room that fits 30, then let us know, and we can do the talk twice, so everyone gets a chance to hear it.

how long is a push session?
Our 'off-the-shelf' presentations or workshops normally last 60-90 minutes, but we’re a flexible lot (yoga three times a week), so we can fit in with your timetable. We find that it can be a bit of a squeeze to get all the info in under 40 minutes, so we’d recommend that as a minimum, but other than that, wind us up and we’ll keep going as long as you need us to. Bespoke sessions can last a half or even a whole day.
Is there any support after the session?
We don’t just come in for an hour and leave, never to be heard of again. Once we’re in school, we like to hang around and offer on-going support to students and teachers. We are always happy to stay for panel discussions at your event, or a Q&A session with students - at little to no extra cost.
After a Push session:
For students
We give every student the chance to sign up to Push Post – our free monthly newsletter, full of helpful, clear, independent advice guiding them through the application process, reinforcing key dates and deadlines, and encouraging them to research and think about different things to think about when choosing and applying to uni or alternatives. The through-line of our monthly blogs is choices and employability. We promise never to spam students, sell their details on to third parties, or try and sell them stuff. An option to unsubscribe at anytime is also given, for when you don't need us anymore..
We widely promote our Student Zone on this site, for students to access anytime along with our regular 90' Second video guides on the topics students most want answers to.
For schools and colleges
On request, we can give you a copy of our presentation used in the session, for you to re-visit with students in assemblies or tutorials...or to circulate to all the students themselves. We also offer a student engagement report based on the data collected in our feedback forms, to show you the impact we had (again: on request).
All teachers are also welcome to sign up to Push Post – our free monthly newsletter, although directly aimed at students, it is full of useful articles, careers and employability news, tips and deadline reminders you can pass on to your students. Teachers can always find useful advice, articles and links on our For Schools and Colleges page, too.
Our ethos is to deliver a sustained progressive framework whenever possible: to build an ongoing relationship with students, delivering laddered sessions as year groups progress toward their post-16 and post-18 choices. We offer a wide range of session topics so if you enjoy one session why not try another one? For example Moj Taylor, our Executive, has teamed up with fellow comedian Lorna Shaw to offer public speaking and comedy workshops to help develop students' self-confidence, creativity and resilience, in a truly refreshing way.

how do i book a session?
You can fill out our enquiry form here, call us on 08432 893 990 or email [email protected]. It is as easy as ordering a sausage roll at Greggs.
After we’ve confirmed details about dates, times, and topics, we’ll send you a confirmation email along with a final booking receipt with all the agreed details on. You just need to check this over and read the terms and conditions at the bottom and let us know if there's anything you'd like changing.
We’ll also send you a confirmation email about a week before the session, just to check that all the details are still correct and we're 100% good to go. That allows our team ample time to put the final preparations toward your session.
If prior to the session you need to make alterations or (dare we say) a cancellation then you'll easily be able to contact our friendly team who will try and assist you the best way they can.

who will be delivering my session?
We’ve got a cracking team of speakers from a variety of creative backgrounds. Some have gone down traditional higher education routes, some have taken gap years, and some have taken alternative paths to personal and professional success. They are intelligent, witty, well informed members of the human race...and they only become a Push presenter when they've gone through our rigorous selection and training process by Moj Taylor and Johnny Rich.
We will send you the name and contact details of the speaker who will be visiting your school/college/university. You can find out more about our individual speakers here.

WILL MY SCHOOL NEED TO PROVIDE ANYTHING FOR A PUSH SESSION?
All we need, in addition to a room and some students to speak to, is a laptop/computer and a projector/screen. If there are any problems with providing these things, please let us know, and we’ll do what we can to help.
WHEN DO WE HAVE TO PAY?
Once we’ve confirmed all the details and sent you a confirmation email and received your signed booking confirmation, we will issue you an invoice.
All sessions are payable, in full, on receipt of an invoice. Please get in touch with us as soon as you can if there any problems processing payments and we’ll see what we can do. We know how different budgets can be, and if you need to pay a deposit now, or split the payments, call us to discuss.
If you need to raise a PO number or send an invoice our invoicing address is:
Cherry Publishing LTD, 15-17 Middle Street, Brighton, BN1 1AL

WE HAVEN'T QUITE GOT THE BUDGET, IS THERE ANY FUNDING FOR DISADVANTAGED SCHOOLS?
We need to cover our running costs, but we include our expenses in the overall price of a session and we'll always try and book any hotels, trains, planes and automobiles as soon as a session is booked, so the sooner in advance you get in contact the more flexible we can be with price. Our charges and costs are explained here.
Also as part of their social responsibility, we charge independent schools slightly more for a Push session. This allows us to set aside some funding to help lower the cost of sessions for certain schools who can't quite make their budget stretch, but would really benefit from a Push session.
We also regularly work with uni connect hubs. With their funding - focused on supporting areas of England where student numbers have lower progression rates to higher education - we are able to offer certain schools and colleges on regional NCOP target lists fully-funded Push sessions. No strings attached.
If you are a state-funded school or college in England, pop us a call or email and tell us a bit more about your school. We’ll have a few questions to ask you, and then we’ll be able to see if your school is the right shape to fit into our funded-session-shaped hole.
