Session Description
An interactive session run by a professional comedian who tells the story of their own university experience to help students engage with the idea of higher education. This involves the performer's story as a first-in-family to go to university and their desire to pursue further education. They explain how they learned to live independently and how societies, experiences and meeting new people enabled them to become the well rounded person they are today. They explore their influences and barriers, the process of transitioning into work after graduation, and advice they would give to their former selves. This session dispels higher education myths and encourages students to follow their instincts and see uni as a journey to develop transferable skills in and outside the lecture theatre to enhance their future employability. There is also an optional Q&A at the end of the session. Students will submit anonymous questions into a box during the session which the presenters will answer in a segment at the end.
