October 15th is the deadline for applications to Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary science courses. This is not a seriously-ill-line or near-death-line, it is a deadline. If you miss it, you'll have to wait a year to apply again. If you’re thinking about applying to these courses I’m sure you’re already done most of the legwork for your application. If you're not ready yet, then switch off your phone, dust off your laptop and let your mum know she’s on coffee duty for the next 24 hours solid Don’t think you’re off the hook even if you’ve got zero interest in anything science and think Oxbridge is only for ultra, mega smartypants like Suzie who lives next door. No, no it doesn’t mean there’s no rush for George Geography, Mary Marketing or Ellen English whose deadline is January 15th 2021. Don’t be a plonker and leave it until then or you’ll end up Norman No Course. Loads of students applying for other courses will submit their whole UCAS application at this stage. Universities leaf through competing applications on an ‘as they come’ basis, so go on, get up early and get the worm. The sooner you send it, the sooner you can sit back and wait for responses to roll in. Fingers crossed that university life will be returning to normal come next September and there won’t be the complications that students going this year are currently facing but, of course, we don’t know this for certain so make sure you’re keeping on top of any information that your prospective universities are putting out there regarding studying there, it might change your thinking if they’re taking a approach you don’t want. Sign up to their social media pages or set up a google alert. The informed stay ahead of the game when it comes to university applications after all.
