Glasgow’s a university with a liberal, cosmopolitan feel and these days inhabitants are desperate to convince anyone who’ll listen that Glasgae is the real Scottish city worth visiting rather than fusty old Edinburgh. The old industrial town is transformed with parks, cinemas and art galleries. The same can't be said for the weather, which varies slightly from showers to heavy rain to heavier rain. ...more detail That said, almost half the students are locals who liked the city and tolerated it's weather enough to stay put and given the impressive pubbing, clubbing and live music on offer, who’s arguing?...more on entertainment The University has a proud reputation, churning out inventors and politicians aplenty plus swoonsome actor Gerard Butler. Books aplenty may have boffins cheering, but IT facilities get a subdued ‘huh’ in comparison, especially the lack of 24-hr access...more on academic Students fare a bit better with halls, which vary from passable to plush and unsavoury to en-suite...more on housing With twelve bars over Glasgow’s multiple SUs, a plethora of societies and more newspapers than you can lob at a paperboy, the students are an active bunch...more on the SU Glasgow's role as hosts for the 2014 Commonwealth games means sports facilities should expand and Glasgow University is regularly in the uni sports top twenty...more on sports

Woohoo:  Promise of spanking new sports facilities after the Commonwealth games in 2014
