Year 12
- You've probably spent the last few months trawling through prospectuses or reading Push's university profiles to narrow down your shortlist of preferred unis.
- Once
you've thought about where you want to go or, even, which universities
are willing to take you, you'll want to start making arrangements for
Open Days and department tours. To check out which universities are
holding Open Days this month, click here.
- Taking a gap year? Check out the pros & cons, and remember to check that your preferred unis will accept deferred applications before finalising your plans.
Year 13
- If you're starting university in September 2008, and you
don't want to provide any financial information on your form, you need
to apply to the Student Loans Company by April 27th.
Year 12
- You’ve probably been dipping in and out of prospectuses trying to narrow down your shortlist of preferred unis.
But before you settle on your new stomping ground, you’ll need to
decide what’s important to you about a university. Check out what really matters when separating the sheep from the pigs.
Year 13
- For most people, all universities should have finished
saying yes, no or maybe by now. If you haven't heard yet, get on the
blower, it may have been lost in the post. More on handling offers...
- If
you were unlucky enough to get a clean sweep of rejections, you can
apply to those unis that haven't managed yet to fill their places
through UCAS Extra...
- If
you’ve applied for Route B, now’s the time UCAS starts to send round 3
application forms to your third choice universities and colleges.
-
Year 12
- If you're doing AS levels, you're halfway there. While
bad results won't necessarily take you out of the running, they will
decide your predicted grades and count towards your final results at
the end of Year 13.
Year 13
So you’ve picked a uni, filled in the form and bagged the offers. Now
all that remains is to gird your loins for the final push: the exams.
- As soon as your exams are over, if you haven’t already visited your chosen universities, arrange to do so.
- 12 June: Last
date for UCAS to receive Route B applications. After this they won't be
forwarded to universities and you'll receive details about Clearing
instead.
- 30 June: UCAS application deadline for
most courses (not Route B). Applications received after this date won’t
be forwarded to the universities. Instead, they send you details of
Clearing and recommend that you contact the universities directly
