Push Talks are…

Loved by students, teachers, and careers practitioners

Push Talks is committed to getting impartial careers advice into schools and helping students make better, well-informed choices about their futute pathways. It’s what we’ve been doing for 20 years and it’s what we have a real passion for. So, we won’t bring any agenda with us – we’re not affiliated with a university (although we do often work with them), so we can reflect the range and diversity of the uni experience, without promoting any one institution or answer. They key messages that students take away from our talks are…

  • No two universities are the same
  • There’s no such thing as the best university
  • There is only the university that is best for you
All our Speakers are put through Push’s rigorous training programme, with on-going training to make sure that our Speakers are equipped with the most up-to-date information and careers, university & alternatives. We provide all the key information that students need without the jargon, yet without talking down to them either. It’s a narrow tightrope, but we’ve developed perfect balance. Push are nationally recognised as being experts on everything studenty – our Managing Director, Johnny Rich,  is a director of the Higher Education Academy and regularly featured in the media, invited to give keynote addresses at careers advice and higher education conferences and he is a member of various government advisory committees for Higher Education.

They say laughter is the best medicine. Well, we’re not doctors, but laughter certainly helps make our talks uniquely effective. Our talks are funny. Many of our speakers are comedians and comedy writers. The jokes and the entertaining nature of our talks always come with an important message or fact at their core, and are the ideal way to support the great work that teachers and schools already do.

Loved by students, teachers, and careers practitioners

95% of teachers and 93% of student rate Push Talks as ‘good’ or ‘excellent. Click here to see what they’ve been saying. Push Talks has also been recognised by Institute for Careers Guidance, winning an award from the Institute for Careers Guidance in the Working With Young People (14 – 19s Category).

From 30 students to over 400 students, from classrooms and gyms to lecture theatres and playgrounds, from year 9s through to sixth-formers and even parents, from choosing a uni to wider options at 18, we can tailor your talk to fit your students’ needs. We’ve run talks as a kick-starter to wider careers days and events, specialist sessions focussing on employability skills, an effective introduction to the world of university for students from years 9 - 13.  We can even work with you to create complete bespoke programmes, from an hour to a full day of training and workshops.

Great careers advice is for life, not just for an hour. That’s why we offer range of supporting resources for teachers (Teachers Zone) and students (Push Uni Chooser & free monthly newsletters by email), to help keep students fired up after the talk is over.
