A wander down the east coast of Scotland from Aberdeen, Dundee is surrounded by sandy shores and picturesque highlands. The once-ugly city has been nipped, tucked and shopping-malled and now holds its own as a major urban centre. In the most attractive area of the city, overlooking the river, is the architecturally jumbled, self-contained main campus of Dundee University. Like the city, it's developed a taste for redevelopment in the last few years and whole chunks of the campus have been dug up, added to, taken from and generally fiddled with in a major revamp... more detail The students are a pretty unpretentious crowd, two thirds of whom are Scottish.
