Phlegm, sweat and tears
What's worse than having constant exams? Having constant exams while you're not feeling great. I somehow managed to get glandular fever two weeks before my first exam, meaning I actually couldn't take one of them (luckily, it was a re-sit) and am having trouble feeling up to revising for the rest.
If anyone else is in this boat with me, then take my advice and get a doctor's note from your GP. I panicked and got in touch with Edinburgh after missing my first exam. I told them I was worried it would mean I wouldn't get my predicted results. They told me to get a doctor's note and take it to school so they could send it to the examination boards. They also told me that as long as I have this note I could still get in to the university if I don't get the grades I need. The note cost me £20, but it's worth it if it means I can still go to Edinburgh.
And of course, as well as illness there's all the other stressful things that are guaranteed to pop up just when you don't need surprises. Most of the people I know seem to be having relationship trouble, with most of them splitting up with their partner. Some of them are doing it because they don't see how their relationship can work while they are so far apart next year. I see their point, but surely it doesn't apply to everyone?
One of my closest friends has been in a relationship for around nine months with a guy who is at university. They have managed to survive him being away at Lancaster for most of the year and are still doing great. I read an article somewhere that advised students to split up with their partners before going to university because most people break up on the first trip home anyway. I'm just saying that's not always the case - it can work as long as you think it can.
Besides, adding a break up to your list of stresses around exam time is probably not the best plan. Wait until the summer, then make any major decisions.
