Forget the cliches
It’s 1.06am and I’m writing this blog so I can procrastinate over my English coursework just a little bit longer. Welcome to the life of a student. Although, tonight is my first all-nighter so I'm not as bad as some people I know.
There are so many talks and tips to prepare us for what's to come at uni. But, even with extra advice from my mum, an ex-uni lecturer, I was nowhere near prepared for what I found. That sounds very ominous, but I mean it in a good way.
I thought I would get to uni and be the only person on campus who didn't drink and go to clubs every night (even though I found two other people like me on facebook beforehand). But I was pleasantly surprised to find that there's a huge group of us, mainly from my floor and the one below, who all hang around together and have a laugh - without alcohol.
So don’t be put off going to uni because you think all students drink and party all day and night. This isn’t the case. There probably will be times when you're woken up by a load of drunken people coming back from pubs and clubs, but it doesn't happen as often as you'd think.
