Application Timetable

 

The exact dates change from year to year, so it’s best to check them and not to ride the deadlines anyway - the ones given below are for 2014 entry. For handy reminders on what needs attention right now, check out What should I be doing this month?

 

 

 

Year 12 (Lower Sixth)


Year 13 (Upper Sixth)


1st September

 

First date for UCAS to receive application forms.

15 October

 

Deadline for applications to Oxford, Cambridge and medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses.

mid October

 

Most schools and colleges set their own deadlines for UCAS application forms around this time, so they can add their references.

end November

 

Recommended target deadline for getting standard application forms to UCAS.

December

 

A good time to practice interview skills or arrange Open Days if you haven’t had visited any universities.

January

 Start considering what and where you might want to study.

If you got your application in to UCAS by the end of November, you should be beginning to get responses from the universities: offers, rejections or invitations to interviews.

15 January (2015)

Deadline for UCAS to receive most application forms. (Universities may choose to consider late applications.)

16 January

 

First date for UCAS to receive ‘Route B’ application forms for art and design courses.

January-August

Use the Uni Chooser to create a shortlist of preferred universities.

Then read the Push profiles and get hold of their prospectuses.

Attend open days where you can and simply arrange your own visit where you can’t.

University interviews, followed by offers or rejections.

When you’ve heard back from all your universities, you need to let them know your decision within a couple of weeks.

12 February

  UCAS starts to send round 1 Route B application forms for art and design courses to your first choice universities and colleges.
26 February
  UCAS website starts to show which courses still have vacancies for applications via ‘UCAS Extra’. UCAS also send out Extra ‘Passports’ to anyone who hasn’t accepted an offer who asks for one. (Otherwise, use UCAS’s online ‘Track’ system.)

6 March

 

UCAS’s recommended deadline for getting in application forms for art and design courses to avoid the last-minute rush.

24 March
  Deadline for UCAS to receive round 1 Route B application forms for art & design courses

30 March

 

UCAS starts to send round 2 Route B application forms for art and design courses to your second choice universities and colleges.

22 May

 

UCAS starts to send round 3 Route B application forms for art and design courses to your third choice universities and colleges.

June

 

As soon as your exams are over, if you haven’t already visited your chosen universities, arrange to do so.

11 June
  Last date for UCAS to receive Route B applications. After this they won't be forwarded to universities and you'll receive details about Clearing instead.
